Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Besan/gram flour
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Ajwain
  • 3 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 cup Hot water

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the following dry ingredients: 1 cup of rice flour, 1/2 cup of besan (gram flour), 1 tsp of sesame seeds, 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds, and 1/2 tsp of ajwain.
  2. Mix these dry ingredients well.
  3. Now, add 3 tablespoons of ghee to the dry ingredients. Mix the ghee into the dry mixture thoroughly.
  4. Gradually add 1 cup of hot water to the mixture and knead it into a soft dough. Ensure that the dough is well combined and smooth.
  5. Grease the mould of a murukku maker (a chakli press) with ghee or oil.
  6. Place the greased mould securely onto the murukku maker.
  7. Take a parchment paper or square pieces of parchment paper and place them on a tray or your air fryer basket to hold the chakli.
  8. Fill the murukku maker with the prepared dough.
  9. Press the murukku maker over the parchment paper, moving it in rounds to create concentric circles or spirals of chakli. As you near the end, break the dough and press it into the last concentric circle of the spiral.
  10. Air fry the chakli at 180°C for about 6-7 minutes until they are golden and crisp and your homemade Air fried Chakli is ready to enjoy !
