From the air fryer to your plate, Air Fried Falafel offers a delightful, guilt-free taste that captures the essence of both tradition and healthiness.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dried chickpeas
- 1/2 large onion, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup cilantro
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp chickpea flour
Directions:
- Place the dried chickpeas in a bowl and cover them with cold water. Allow them to soak overnight and then drain. Or you can use canned chickpeas, drained.
- In a food processor, combine the soaked/drained chickpeas, roughly chopped onion, cilantro, salt, cumin, ground coriander, black pepper powder, olive oil, and baking powder. Process until everything is well mixed and the mixture starts to come together, but not into a puree.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add the chickpea flour. Mix until you have a dough-like consistency.
- Preheat your air fryer to 190°C for 10 Minutes.
- Form the mixture into small balls or patties.
- Place the falafel balls or patties in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry the falafel at 190°C for about 25-30 minutes, flipping them halfway through.
- It's recommended to spray them with cooking oil (cooking spray) before baking and after flipping, as this will help them turn out crispier.
- Once the falafel is golden brown and crispy on the outside, remove them from the air fryer.
- Serve the falafel hot with your choice of sauce, pita bread, or in a salad.
