Ingredients:

  • 1 cup soaked poha (flattened rice)
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 6-7 boiled potatoes
  • Bread crumbs
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • Basic masalas (such as salt, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric)
  • Olive oil (for brushing)

Directions:

  1. Begin by soaking 1 cup of poha (flattened rice) in water for a few minutes until it becomes soft. Drain any excess water and set it aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until they are smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Add the soaked poha to the mashed potatoes and mix well to combine.
  4. Incorporate the chopped onions, chopped green chillies, and chopped coriander leaves into the potato-poha mixture. Mix thoroughly.
  5. Season the mixture with basic masalas, including salt, red chili powder, garam masala, and turmeric. Adjust the quantities to your taste preferences.
  6. Gradually add bread crumbs to the mixture to help bind it together. Mix until the mixture reaches a consistency that can be easily shaped into tikkis.
  7. Take portions of the mixture and shape them into round or oval tikki patties.
  8. Preheat your air fryer at 180°C for 10 Minutes.
  9. Brush or spray the air fryer basket with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.
  10. Place the shaped poha tikkis in the air fryer basket, leaving some space between them for even cooking.
  11. Lightly brush the tops of the tikkis with olive oil to promote a crispy texture.
  12. Set the air fryer at 200°C and air fry the tikkis for about 15-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  13. Once the poha tikkis are cooked to your desired level of crispiness, carefully remove them from the air fryer.
  14. Serve the air fried poha tikkis hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.
