Air Fried Puri

Air Fried Puri

Crispy, golden discs of pure delight, puri's aroma takes flight.
A crispy delight that puffs with pride, puri brings joy with every bite.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp semolina (suji)
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp oil (for smoothing the dough)
  • 1/2 cup water

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, sugar and salt.
  2. Add the oil to the dry ingredients and mix well using your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead the dough to form a smooth and firm ball. You may need slightly more or less water depending on the flour, so adjust accordingly.
  4. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes to allow the gluten to relax.
  5. Preheat your air fryer to 180°C for about 5 minutes.
  6. Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls and roll each ball into a circular shape, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter.
  7. You can use a rolling pin and dust some flour to prevent sticking.
  8. Place the rolled puri into the preheated air fryer basket, making sure not to overlap them.
  9. Cook the puri’s in the air fryer at 200°C for about 5 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
  10. Once cooked, remove the puri’s from the air fryer.
  11. Serve the air fried puri’s hot with your favourite side dishes like curry, chutney, or yogurt.
