Crispy, golden discs of pure delight, puri's aroma takes flight.
A crispy delight that puffs with pride, puri brings joy with every bite.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp semolina (suji)
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp oil (for smoothing the dough)
- 1/2 cup water
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, semolina, sugar and salt.
- Add the oil to the dry ingredients and mix well using your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
- Gradually add water, a little at a time, and knead the dough to form a smooth and firm ball. You may need slightly more or less water depending on the flour, so adjust accordingly.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes to allow the gluten to relax.
- Preheat your air fryer to 180°C for about 5 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small lemon-sized balls and roll each ball into a circular shape, approximately 4-5 inches in diameter.
- You can use a rolling pin and dust some flour to prevent sticking.
- Place the rolled puri into the preheated air fryer basket, making sure not to overlap them.
- Cook the puri’s in the air fryer at 200°C for about 5 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Flip them halfway through the cooking process to ensure even cooking.
- Once cooked, remove the puri’s from the air fryer.
- Serve the air fried puri’s hot with your favourite side dishes like curry, chutney, or yogurt.
