Chocolate Chip Cookies

Savour the delicate balance of sweet and chocolaty flavours in these mouth watering chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients:

  • 100g brown sugar
  • 110g white caster sugar
  • 120g butter, melted
  • 230g all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp corn flour
  • 6 tbsp. milk
  • Nutella (for decoration)
  • Chocolate chips (desired amount)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp table salt

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and white caster sugar until the sugars are somewhat dissolved.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, corn flour , and table salt. Mix well.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the butter-sugar mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the milk, 3 tablespoons at a time, mixing well after each addition. You may need only 5 tablespoons of milk in total. The batter should be easily pliable.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips into the dough mixture.
  6. Shape the dough into equal-sized balls and place them on a baking tray. Refrigerate the dough balls for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Place the chilled dough balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them for spreading.
  8. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  9. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
While the cookies are still warm, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out heart shapes from the center of each cookie.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Once the cookies have cooled, decorate the center cut-out with Nutella or desired amount of Nutella.
