As we light up our homes and hearts, may the sweetness of Mawa Gujiya illuminate our Diwali celebrations.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups refined flour (maida)
- A pinch of salt
- 4 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup water
- 200g roasted mawa (khoya)
- 2 tbsp each of chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins
- 1/2 cup jaggery powder
- 1/2 cup desiccated coconut
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of refined flour (maida), a pinch of salt, and 4 tbsp of vegetable oil.
- Gradually add 1/2 cup of water and knead the mixture into a smooth and firm dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside while you prepare the stuffing.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 200g of roasted mawa (khoya), 2 tbsp each of chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins, 1/2 cup of jaggery powder, and 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut. This will be your gujiya filling.
- Take a portion of the dough and roll it out into a thin circle, like a chapati.
- Place a spoonful of the prepared stuffing in the center of the circle.
- Fold the circle in half to cover the stuffing, creating a semicircular shape.
- Seal the edges by pressing them together or using a fork to create a decorative pattern.
- Preheat your air fryer to 200°C for 10 minutes.
- Place the prepared gujiyas in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded.
- Air fry the gujiyas at 200°C for approximately 30 minutes. You may need to flip them once during the cooking process for even browning.
- Once done, remove the gujiyas from the air fryer and let them cool.
- Your delicious Mawa Gujiyas are ready to be enjoyed as a sweet treat during festivals or special occasions. Enjoy!
