Vegetable tots

Veggie-packed delight: Air fried Vegetable Tots, the crispy way to sneak in your daily greens!

Ingredients:

  • Boiled Potato, mashed
  • Boiled Carrot, grated
  • Boiled Green Peas, roughly mashed
  • Onion, finely chopped
  • Red Chilli Flakes
  • Oregano
  • Garlic Powder
  • Cajun Spice (or any preferred seasoning)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Bread Crumbs
  • Cheese, grated (optional, but recommended for extra flavour)
  • Oil (for brushing or spraying)

Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed boiled potatoes, grated boiled carrots, roughly mashed boiled green peas, finely chopped onion, red chilli flakes, oregano, garlic Powder, cajun Spice, and salt to taste.
  2. Mix all the ingredients well until they are evenly combined. The mixture should be thick enough to hold its shape.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 200°C for a 5 minutes.
  4. Take a small portion of the vegetable mixture and shape it into a tot (small cylindrical or oval shape). Repeat with the rest of the mixture.
  5. Roll each tot in bread crumbs to coat it evenly. The bread crumbs will give the tots a crispy texture.
  6. Optional: For an extra cheesy flavor, you can stuff each tot with a small amount of grated cheese before rolling it in bread crumbs.
  7. Lightly brush or spray the air fryer basket with oil to prevent sticking.
  8. Place the vegetable tots in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they do not touch each other.
  9. Air fry at 200°C for about 25 minutes, the vegetable tots turn golden brown and crispy. Flip or shake the basket halfway through the cooking time for even cooking.
  10. Once done, carefully remove the vegetable tots from the air fryer and serve them hot.
